About Rachael

I had been riding for most of my life when my first horse, Beau, was diagnosed with navicular. After conventional treatments failed, I was able to get Beau sound with the help of a knowledgeable barefoot trimmer. This experience was significant in transforming my relationship with horses. My focus changed from riding horses to helping them heal. I decided to go to school for barefoot trimming and hoof rehab in 2006. This was the beginning of my journey helping horses.

After graduating from hoof school I started trimming professionally. I gained more experience with rehabbing horses and I found that there was more to restoring soundness than simply balancing the hoof. I recognized that when there is a problem in the feet, that there is often tension higher up in the body.

I had read about the Masterson Method and became curious about this "different" form of bodywork. I decided to take a weekend course with the goal of learning just a few techniques to practice with my horses and those of my clients. After the first day of class I knew my plans had changed. I saw how effective the Masterson Method was at helping the horses release tension in their bodies. I knew that this was something that could make a huge difference for the horses in my care. I made the decision that day that I wanted to become an MMCP and I started making plans to get certified.
Throughout my fieldwork, I practiced the Masterson Method on my trimming clients' horses.

The feedback I got from both the horses and their owners was proof that I was on the right track. The horses loved the work and the owners were noticing results - win win!

In July of 2021 I passed my certification and became a Masterson Method Certified Practitioner. Since that time, I continue to further my education and experience by assisting with Masterson Method weekend courses as well as 5-day advanced courses. I am also now a coach for the fieldwork portion of the certification program. Being asked to be a coach for the MMCP program was an honor for me. I learn so much by sharing this work with others. It makes me so happy to know that, by sharing this work, I am helping even more horses to feel their best.
